In moments of crisis, when disaster strikes unexpectedly, people often find themselves without the resources to survive, rebuild, and recover. Whether it’s a natural disaster, a public health emergency, or a sudden economic downturn, communities face enormous challenges that can leave them vulnerable, displaced, and in dire need of assistance. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., in conjunction with the PBS Impact Foundation, has created the Blue Axe Contingency Fund to provide immediate support to individuals and communities when needed. We can’t predict every emergency, but we can help ensure that when disaster comes, there is a safety net ready to catch those affected.
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to rapid response. The Blue Axe Contingency Fund provides essential aid — food, shelter, medical supplies, and financial assistance — when people’s lives are disrupted. From hurricanes and wildfires to economic crises and public health emergencies, the fund is designed to be flexible, adaptable, and prepared to meet the needs of various emergencies.
Examples of crises the Blue Axe Contingency Fund has supported individuals and communities through include (but are not limited to):
- Areas destroyed by forest fires
- Regions affected by hurricanes and tornadoes
- Individuals needing fresh water due to contamination
- Public health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic
